The new @Project_Veritas video discusses how Google is throttling the views of conservative content creators.

This isn’t news to people like me, @RubinReport, & @prageru. We’ve been saying this for months.

(THREAD)
In January, YouTube announced it would stop recommending the spread of “borderline” content. Content that didn’t break TOS, but that came close and/or spread misinformation.

They mentioned this applying specifically to conspiracy theories, but we all knew it wouldn’t stop there.
I’ve been on YouTube for 3 years.

With views, I’ve had good months and bad months. But you know what’s always stayed constant, even as the total numbers views fluctuated?

The percent of viewers that found my videos through the “Recommends” section.
In March, I noticed that not only were my videos getting fewer views, but they weren’t getting recommended by the system anymore.

I discussed this with other conservative content creators, and they reported the same.

I mentioned this in a video & was told “Your vids just suck.”
Maybe lol, but still, I wanted to know whether this was a real thing or me just being paranoid.

So I took a deep dive and analyzed my channel’s views for the past 2 years.

And it confirmed to me exactly what I had suspected.
From August 2017 (as far back as I bothered looking) to June 2018, the percent of views my channel got from recommends stayed constant between 35-40%, with a low of 32%.

Total number of views fluctuated, but this “% from recommends” STAYED CONSTANT.
In July 2017 (a full 6 months before YouTube announced their official policy), my recommend views dropped 10%. They’d never been this low. This is the area represented in yellow.

This percentage remained virtually unchanged, but in October they dropped another 5% (orange area).
Finally, in February 2019 after YouTube’s announcement, our recommended views dropped even more.

Again, these number don’t speak to the TOTAL number of views I was getting (that number has fluctuated), merely the proportion of them that the algorithm was responsible for.
As it stands, channel like mine are in YouTube purgatory.

Our channels aren’t deleted, but we’re not growing since our content isn’t being offered to new viewers.

YouTube is filtering what it recommends through an ideological bias.

This is NOT how “platforms” behave.
