Motivation comes and goes.
Discipline should be the rock.
Motivation is emotion.
Discipline is action.
Discipline provides the foundation for ALL fitness success - muscle gain, fat loss & health.
Let's get some:
One of the biggest reasons you see people going to the gym in January, but lacking the discipline to keep it going for longer than about 1 month, is because:
They never review their goals.
Doing so will keep your brain focused on:
- Social media
- The news
- Your mum
- Your gf
- Your wife
- The neighbours
- Your boss
- etc.
Often, pain is the biggest motivator.
I don't recommend doing this all the time (like reviewing your goals), but I DO recommend doing this if you fall off track.
Remind yourself of what COULD happen in 5 years if you don't change.
Next:
Sugar is like cocaine.
And I'm not talking about fruit, I'm talking about the types of food that make you instantly want to eat another 10,000 calories-worth of the stuff.
Addictive.
Junk.
Stay away if you want to maintain discipline.
Next:
For slightly different reasons to sugar.
With alcohol, it's more of a 'fuck it, fuck fitness, let's have fun' mindset that always arises after a few drinks; both that night AND the next day.
Alcohol is a killer of self-discipline.

Your kitchen
Your bathroom
Your car
Wherever makes most sense for you - put pictures of your goal physique.
We're visual creatures, and pictures will have a powerful impact on your brain and will keep you focused.
Next:
This essentially means:
1) Either cut off, or severely reduce contact with people who get in the way (energy vampires, you could call them), and;
2) Actively seek better people who are aligned with your values/goals/lifestyle
More:
Jealousy, opposition, negative tactics.
But I now currently have the 'ideal' inner circle (it's smaller than it was), and I can tell you:
It makes ONE HELL of a difference for your mindset & discipline.
Next:
Yes, I've done 7 & not 6 - I'm aware (obviously can't count!)
Put it this way:
The fastest path to having the 'fuck it fairy' come and visit, is to be severely sleep deprived.
You'll be moody, hungry and your willpower will be shot.
Sleep is crucial.
Discipline DOES, if you follow the above advice.
