X : This no deal brexit has become real, hasn't it?
Me : A long way twixt here and there but ... it's in the realm of the possible. A week however is a lifetime in politics which is a pity as any direction is what is desperately needed today.
The two "easier" things to prepare for have been remain / no deal as the end state has been known (obviously, it's far easier with remain as that's the status quo) and we've had 3 years to prepare ... the hardest part has always been to prepare for a deal as it is unknown.
X : What if we're not prepared for no deal?
Me : That would be unthinkable. The Gov was caught with its pants down by not preparing for one result on the referendum, it seems highly unlikely that this could happen again.
People really underestimate how savvy the civil service is ... we are not going to get to a no deal after 3 years and the Gov go "we didn't think it would happen" especially after the referendum. It won't be easy but it'll be meticuously prepared for.

Me : That's a good sign. Ditch it.
X : Eh? Isn't it important.
Me : It's purely scaffolding. Think of it like training wheels. You're growing beyond it.
X : I don't understand.
Me : Ok. Let's start with a tea shop
Me : The first thing we put down are the users (i.e. anchors of the map). In this case, we have the public (who has need to drink tea) and the business (who has a need to sell tea). There are of course many more users.
X : Like regulators?
Me : Yes. But we will start simple.
Me : You then expand this graph (and it is a graph) by exploring those needs to create chains of needs i.e. what does a cup of tea need ... it needs tea, it needs a cup etc.
X : It needs staff.
Me : Of course, that's part of sharing the final map. People find missing components.

I can't stop laughing (h/t @futuristpaul). I was doing this about a decade ago, I even gave a public presentation on this circa 2010. I find it hilarious that execs are still leaking such information through private jet use. It's pathetically easy to mask the signals ->
The number of times I've used this in presentations over the last decade ... I'm truly amazed that ... well, actually ... given the leading edge to laggards in the corporate world can be 25 years, I suppose execs will be leaking like sieves for another decade.
However ... the National Business Aviation Association quote to "develop new tools for more effectively blocking data on private aircraft" ... is the icing on the cake, I'm currently rolling around in fits of laugher. Where do they dig these muppets up from?

Me : That was solved decades ago. You give everyone command line access to instant god mode commands.

Me : And, people are cheating to get higher up some leaderboards?
X : Yes
Me : So, give everyone god mode and stop being sad bastards. More important things to do in life.

Me : Oh, I think I understand. This is an online game creating status for people through imaginary leaderboards where you have to pay to play, pay to get better gear and we keep you addicted with random big drops and rapid turnover? Roughly?

When Juncker said today he would « equally respect and establish working relations with any new (uk) Prime Minister whoever they may be » .. the whoever they may be refers to Boris Johnson or another passionate Brexiteer the EU assumes will probably replace Theresa May #Trexit /1
EU doesn’t relish the prospect. They’ve been game planning the possibility of “PM Boris” for months. Mrs May’s Denise hardly comes as a surprise /2
Rather like when Donald Trump became US president, there has been many a European musing as to whether “populist Boris, the arch Brexiteer” might be tamed by office into becoming calmer and (from the European perspective) more reasonable /3

Frustration and #Brexit despondency reign right now in EU circles. “This new round of EU-UK negotiations is essentially window dressing” -one official tells me “Each side just repeats well-known red lines to the other. And all this with time running out.” 1
Every two weeks, the PM sets another deadline for “crunch time”. It was supposed to be today, now it’s theoretically end of Feb but few in EU see things moving bilaterally till March. Probably the EU summit on 21st with 8 days to go till ‘B Day’ 2
