The busing debate was actually very complicated, but is interesting to watch a leading Democrat get the treatment usually reserved for Republicans from the left and their media allies. Especially after that same Democrat has gotten a pass on the same issues for decades.
Forced bussing was a proposal to integrate schools by forcing kids to attend other school to start to even out the racial mix in each school. It was opposed by segregationists for obvious reasons, but...
it was also opposed by many parents who didn't want their kids to be forcibly sent to distant schools and others who felt it would not solve the problem of a lack of resources at the poorer schools. Biden went back and forth, but often argued that last point at the time.
Biden supported federal intervention where there was intentional segregation, but not where neighborhoods were naturally segregated. He instead argued we should improve those schools.
With that said, you can see how sharing an opposition to mandated busing with segregationists can be made to look bad. Yet the media never bothered to pursue that narrative in 3 decades, including when he ran for VP. Not until now, and the reason is rather obvious.
It was because it was not a good solution, but the point here isn't to review the policy but to suddenly paint Biden as a secret insensitive racist after portraying him as a lovable politician for 4 decades.
