NEW/SCOOP: For the last 4 years, consulting firm McKinsey has helped restructure the spying bureaucracy, including NSA, ODNI, and CIA. But the multi-million $$ overhaul—awarded w/o competitive bidding—has hindered decision-making and left many demoralized. politico.com/story/2019/07/…
Employees are also wary of McKinsey’s reputation—the firm has come under scrutiny for its work with corruption-plagued governments in China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and South Africa. It’s also worked with ICE, and last year was awarded a multi-million dollar contract with CBP.
ADDITIONALLY: The current NSA director, Gen. Paul Nakasone, is in the process of trying to reverse some of the restructuring that has occurred in recent years, according to one former official. “It’s seen as a nod by Nakasone” that the changes “went too far,” he said.
