Perot was the most successful Independent presidential candidate in US history; in 1992 he garnered the highest share of the popular vote (18.9%) for any non-Dem or GOP candidate since Theodore Roosevelt in 1912. But oddly that's not mentioned in the Dallas Morning News obituary
Which may suggest that Perot and his family, who heavily influenced the obituary, are eager to downplay that aspect of his legacy for whatever reason. Despite their obvious parallels, as far as I know Perot never commented publicly on Trump from 2016-onward
