I don't think there is a single Black woman at Google who was hired under a research scientist position. So far I haven't found one. And I don't think that there has ever been. No wonder I"m going crazy.
I don't think anyone understands what it is like to be an outspoken Black woman in this field. Someone who is technical while trying to learn from historians, tech critics, social scientists, and artists in this field.
I will say that no one understands. It is not just Google. It is the whole industry, conferences, everything. While doing the emotional labor to console literally everyone who looks like me that I know in this field. Especially those who are trying to do what I'm trying to do.
There are Black women doing research but *not* hired under specifically the *research scientist* ladder which tells you things.
When I say women (plural) I mean there are two I know of across the ENTIRE company in every country its located in, doing research.
