I'm glad I haven't watched any Conservative leadership debates or interviews to date, because Jeremy Hunt on Brexit is so out of contact with negotiating reality that it's hard to believe he's supposed to be the moderate
Winner of round 1, @afneil with a technical knockout of Jeremy Hunt who really struggled to answer a single question (tough questions mind)
Johnson getting petulant, and making sure he can always blame someone else, won't have reassured civil servants or future ministerial colleagues that he can be trusted to support them
Johnson appears to be less in contact with Brexit negotiating reality than Hunt, which really takes some doing. It's a choice between different parallel universes.
"why this negativety?" in answer to a question to a WTO detail pretty much sums up the vucuity at the heart of Johnson's view on Brexit
Johnson's habit of answering questions that he clearly doesn't understand will be a great problem for him in Number 10. And a worse problem for those who may become innocent victims.
Johnson survives. But he's carrying a lot of baggage into Number 10, and a lot of questions of temperament, judgement, and priorities.
