Hold the IGP of @PoliceNG responsible for the killings of innocent citizens by rogue tactical squads (SARS/SAKS/SACS/ZIS/STS etc) that have since become a national organized crime syndicate. He is aware of their daily criminal activities & have remained tacit to act. #EndImpunity

Upon receiving the report of the death of an innocent man at the incident in Ilupeju on Ajiri street, @SIAF_NG dug deeper to make sense of the entire situation knowing fully well that the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Lagos don’t carry out indiscriminate raids. #4Clarity

@SIAF_NG We engaged the Commander of SARS in Lagos having confirmed that the men actually went there but not on a raid. We were duly informed that they were working on a lead to apprehend a notorious murderer wanted for a while now. #4Clarity

@SIAF_NG A tipoff was received but they were unable to act on it until the early hours of this morning. Already they had one of the confraternity members in custody who was to lead them to their armory in the Ilupeju area of Lagos. #4Clarity

@SIAF_NG At about 7:30am today, an undercover team of SARS operatives visited the area with the cultist (Ikechukwu Monye (IK)) in custody in the bid to locate the armory of the gang terrorizing the area and possibly arrest a wanted gang leader. #4Clarity

@SIAF_NG Somehow the operation was met with unforeseen circumstances as rival gangs intercepted their operation leading to the escape of the ring leader and the urgent need to abort the operation having been outnumbered by the armed gang. #4Clarity

It was in the course of this that the rival gangs started their gun battle as the team gathered on their way out of the area for reinforcement. It should be noted that the team that were in the area were armed with AK-47. #4Clarity

The SARS Operatives were already out of the area before they were informed that an innocent man was caught in the line of fire between the rival cult gangs. Ilupeju is known to have consistently experienced violent clashes and attacks between confraternities in the area #4Clarity

Reinforcement came from the DPO of the area and support from other DPOs in the area in the midst of the confusion. But instead of engaging the cultists, the already traumatized residents were attacked with tear gas by the Police. #4Clarity

The residents expected the Police to calm the situation and address them but they were more interested in taking the corpse of the slain Mr Francis Eni, who was hit by a stray bullet that went through his head as reported. #4Clarity

The man’s family in shock didn’t know the procedure and were protecting the corpse, which police reacted to by shooting sporadically in the air and firing tear gas at the residents. 10 Vans arrived including a Blackmaria & innocent people were arrested in numbers. #4Clarity

Our sources on the field confirmed also that the bullet that allegedly killed Mr Francis Eni was recovered by the local vigilante there quoted to be a 'B&S 9mm Luger.’ They have been advised to turn this in to the authorities. #4Clarity

Ballistics enthusiasts will tell you that if this bullet as alleged was recovered at the scene where the corpse was found and is truly responsible for the death, it couldn’t have come from an AK-47. But further investigation will verify this. #4Clarity

The investigation will reveal more including the revelation of all that may have been hidden in the operation of SARS in the area as led by Insp. Mohammed Akeem. Justice will be served and may the soul of Mr Francis Eni rest in peace. #4Clarity

One thing we know to be true here is that the @PoliceNG in the area know who these cultists are. They know the Indian hemp smokers and their hideouts. Even when they arrest them, they only extort them and release them to continue terrorizing the neighborhood. #4Clarity

@PoliceNG Majority of the people arrested in that area today numbering over 30 and shipped off to Oshodi Task force will be accused indiscriminately of Murder and be made to pay a huge ransom for their release. #4Clarity

@PoliceNG This is the impunity we have been hammering on for the authorities to shutdown to no avail. The situation ought to have been handled professionally but our operatives are most often found wanting. But the truth is out there. #4Clarity

@PoliceNG The body of the Late Mr Francis Eni has been deposited at the mortuary for post mortem examination and we implore the local security operative in possession of the bullet recovered at the scene as gathered to come forward with the material evidence without fear. #4Clarity

@PoliceNG We stand with the residents of the area and will intervene in the processing of those arrested to ensure the innocent don't suffer unduly. Our Police officers need more help than they know. #4Clarity

Residents however maintains that there was no gun battle on that street today as claimed by the police. There are witnesses to what transpired and some of them were arrested and taken away along side other residents. #4Clarity

We also got reports that the arresting police officers smashed a phone from one of the residents, that was reported to have allegedly recorded the entire scenario, and destroyed material evidence. Time reveals all. #4Clarity

I’m just bewildered how several squads of @PoliceNG officers led by supposed DPOs fire tear gas and shoot indiscriminately in the air in a crime scene with a school full of school children near by. We sometimes have to wonder where these lots got their training from if at all. 😞
