The Jo Johnson who followed his brother into #BullingdonClub, who was a May cabinet minister during #Windrush mess, or supportive husband of journalist who exposed it?

Or is he just better at concealing his opportunism & power-seeking than his brother (not a high bar, granted)

Next week, Labour will whip in favour of an amendment for a second referendum. But it's very unlikely to pass as not all their own MPs will back it.

My calculation of the number of Labour MPs who won't support a #PeoplesVote currently stands at 33 👇 docs.google.com/document/d/1t2…
Of the 33, there are 19 who have indicated pretty categorically that they won't vote for one.

There are also another 14 whose public opposition isn't quite as explicit, but whose voting behaviour and previous statements points towards opposing a second referendum.
For example, if an MP has previously voted against an EEA-style soft Brexit, or not voted for extending Article 50, are they really going to vote for a second referendum - a more radical proposal than either?

1) Calm thread on #PeoplesVote & #LabourConference2018
I'm not a fan of Corbyn, but I'm going to try to keep this fair

It's fair to say the campaign for a people's vote is a major force for this week's conference
100s of motions from the CLPs
Corbyn said he'd respect conference
2) Now, obviously politics is complex however Corbyn did say he came into the Leadership to empower the members - yes, Blair & other leaders probably played dodgy tricks in these "compositing" events but Corbyn specifically said he would be different & far more democratic
3) Spreading democracy outwards is a core belief of Corbyn, into CLPs, communities, businesses, everywhere.

Obviously as well, going for a #PeoplesVote carries some risk for the Labour party, in terms of how the press might react.

But this shouldn't, in the end, matter
