I can't believe I have to do this, but here is what the NCA (National Climate Assessment) 👏 ACTUALLY 👏 says 👏 about👏 heat 👏 waves (1/ad nauseam) 👏
"The frequency of cold waves has decreased since the early 1900s, and the frequency of heat waves has INCREASED since the mid-1960s."

Key Finding 2, science2017.globalchange.gov/chapter/6/
Also: "The frequency of intense heat waves (4-day, 1-in-5 year events) has generally increased since the 1960s in most regions except the Midwest and the Great Plains. Since the early 1980s (Figure 6.4)...suggestive evidence of a slight increase in the intensity of heat waves"
Further: "Very generally, the number of record lows has been declining since the late-1970s while the number of record highs has been rising"
And hey, what about heat waves in some of the largest cities of the US, areas especially vulnerable prone to heat wave induced morbidity/mortality. ALSO INCREASING globalchange.gov/browse/indicat…
Finally, while extreme heat did peak during the 1930s, that was a decade of historically unprecedented drought, land degradation, and dust storm activity, so simply not a good baseline to start trend lines. I should know-I've spent much of my life studying it.
At any rate, hope this helps! I'm just an honest broker out here trying to provide the best information and a clear view of the scientific consensus 😀🙏
emojis, of course, added for dramatic effect and not explicitly endorsed by the NCA, IPCC, NAS, or other scientific authority
