Jason Zweig identifies precisely why Financial Twitter can be such a great educational resource in this post. Fintwit posse members like those Jason mentions will quickly run poseurs and promoters out of town. Even too much talking your book will get you a swift kick in the rear.
Is Financial Twitter the way it is because poseurs and promoters have a harder time hiding when outcomes are more measurable numerically?

How much of Financial Twitter is a product of nature versus nurture? Is it inherently a less toxic topic? Are there other topics like it?
One thing I like about the technology industry is how people are more willing to help others get a start. People won't accept every meeting request or answer every question, but if someone asks in the right way and are helpful in return they can find people willing to teach them.
