I know I need to lose a good chunk of weight but the armrests are actually resting on my hip bones. Is this the future of air travel?

I wouldn't mind too much if a morphine drip was provided or some chemical induced coma ... fortunately, it was a seat misconfiguration.
Another flight, another bunch of CO2 blasted into the atmosphere and another day of my life wasted flying.
X : Why don't you use the time to finish your book?
Me : Lol ... I have a Macbook Pro 2015, there isn't room to open it.
... of course, today is nothing compared to what I expect in the future of cattle class air travel.

I will welcome the day that air travel is prohibited and we either go online or start slowing things down. I'm fine with a two week Atlantic crossing by sail.

Me : If "yes", they probably think climate change is a natural cycle. Science won't be a "big" thing.
... lots of companies like to talk about the importance of data but what they often mean is "the importance of data that supports my view". You'd be amazed at what sort of voodoo happens in executive circles, often selectively using "science" (emphasis on quotes).
There's also a tension growing between business (soft people skills) vs engineering (hard technology skills). People often say "we're all one" but that's usually the biz feeling like they are being left behind as the most successful companies are increasingly run by engineers.

On a Sunday, my area becomes full of mamils (middle aged men in lycra - usually, a crime against nature) and pims (plonkers in mercedes - think they're Ayrton Senna, more Mr Magoo i.e. can't drive straight, can't cope with country roads, often end up in ditches).
Today, was the typical 4x4 Merc in a ditch, one 4x4 bashed into another, bunch of blokes arguing in Arsenal shirts doing their best "I'm hard" impression (i.e. increasingly squeaky high pitch North London voices) and a parade of mamils trying to cycle around them ... priceless.
As usual, I'm sitting on the bank of a river with a couple of friends, slow fishing ... and trying not to die laughing. Slow fishing is the type of fishing where we forget to bring a rod most of the time i.e. last time we caught anything was so long ago, we've forgotten.

... of course, that's nothing compared to the treatment of the homeless. What's horrendous is that some in the UK think we should emulate San Francisco. Just take a walk through the city for 8 hours, see the scale of the suffering and ... it isn't a model we should follow.
San Francisco hasn't quite got to the stage of renaming itself Stratos and referring to the less fortunate as troglytes ... but that's only a matter of time.

Bernie's polling is decent, but that he does the 2nd-best against Trump (after Biden) is partly an artifact of name recognition. For instance, Buttigieg polls worse than Bernie vs. Trump. But Buttigieg actually has better favorables than Bernie among voters who know who he is.
It's certainly a messy relationship. Some liberals, including Bernie, have decent (though not great) polling. Some moderates don't. But favorability ratings, which allow voters to say they don't recognize a candidate, are a better way to assess this stuff than head-to-head polls.

You have to adjust for name recognition, though. Biden, at just south of 30 percent, is still something like a 2:1 underdog. And Bernie's position at 20 percent, as I wrote yesterday, is tenable but not great.
Per the chart above, Buttigieg's position is roughly as good as Bernie's on a "polls only" basis, or maybe a bit better. Empirically, you'd slightly prefer to be polling at ~10% with low name recognition than ~20% with high name recognition.

correct answers are "Herbert Morrison" and "Lakehurst New Jersey". In the 1920's and 30's Zeppelins, or "Airships" were thought to be the future of air travel. So much so that buildings, like the Empire State Building for instance, were built with a spire tended to dock zeppelins
This obviously ended with the Hindenburg disaster on May 6, 1937. The Hindenburg was massive, 800 feet long, 135 feet in diameter. It was a cruise on air, it was luxurious. It had cabins with baths and wash basins, dining rooms, a lounge with a baby grand piano, smoking lounges
It was the largest man-made object to take to the skies. It was lifted by using hydrogen gas. Unlike the Titanic, which was its maiden voyage, the Hindenburg had crossed the Atlantic 34 times in 1936, and it was the 11th time in 1937 that it was set to dock in Lakehurst, NJ.

I agree, but in any case it makes no sense to keep civilization on just one planet, because doing so hurts the planet, hurts the people, and prevents all the amazing things we could be doing if we weren't so-limited. /1

2/ I mean, the planet sets a DEFINITE limit to the size of things we can do in this universe. We can't build telescopes bigger than a planet until we get off the planet. We can't build supercomputers to solve super science questions if they need more energy than a planet. Etc.
3/ And we could never afford to build those giant telescopes, or giant supercomputers, or traversing world ships to comfortably take communities to other stars while we have an *economy* limited by the scale of a planet.
