.@LRCaldwell6 was highly respected during her time running DOJ’s Criminal Division. Her good judgment likely stemmed, in part, from her time working with Mueller.
The conundrum Mueller faces is that the rules at DOJ (ie not discussing individuals who aren’t charged) are for normal cases. Here, the ultimate subject/target of the investigation, the President, uniquely can’t be charged. & there are concerns about whether the AG is acting as..
the people’s lawyer or POTUS’s. While Mueller will want to play by the rules & preserve the institution, the institution & the country may be better served by a departure from long-standing DOJ practice. It’s a hard call for an institutionalist, but the country needs the truth.
