OK, time to talk about Project Everything
We are now so far ahead with the actual process of Apple II disk imaging that we are going to run out of Apple II floppy disks to image within the year. If someone is working on it, dozens can be imaged in a day, hundreds in some cases across all the imaging stations out there.
This isn't to say we're going to run out of Apple II disks OUT THERE, but between procrastination, collector loss aversion, and people not knowing this project exists, we're going to definitely hit a wall.
A lot of people who've sent along collections just send everything, knowing a lot will be duplicates, but that leads to versions of programs and disks nobody knew existed or didn't know a better form existed, so that's good.
I'm an outlier in software preservation, and that's all fine. Mr. Outlier is now jamming things in the direction of the Apple II being in need of a comprehensive catalog/to-do list to inspire people to send in more floppies to be imaged. So here we go.
PROJECT EVERYTHING is currently a spreadsheet that is yanking in data from a variety of sources/books, and so on, to figure out exactly how much Apple II material is actually out there.
I've got about 6 people working on it. If people want to hop in on this project, which currently involves just a lot of spreadsheet editing as we ingest from various sources, let me know.
Or, you know, help us get our hands on masses of Apple II floppy disks, any kind, professional or handwritten, bagged/labelled or loose. Because we really are going to run out of them this year.
