There is no limit. But underestimating the depths to which people like Trump & his defenders will go is only the first mistake. The second is ignoring the warnings and refusing to take action.
The Dems, both in Congress & most of the 2020 candidates, keep hoping someone or something else will take Trump down for them so they don't have to make a commitment to the rule of law.
This is a pathetic and dangerous wishful thinking, well-known from history and often with tragic consequences: "Surely someone else will stop him. He'll do something even worse that will lead to his downfall."
This isn't merely a failure to learn from history, but to learn from the 3 years of Trump. His corruption & abuse of power will grow, not wane, as the election approaches. Sideshow hearings by Pelosi & Twitter attacks from Schumer won't deter him.
Of course Mueller feels "shaky". A lifelong Republican & patriot, attacked by a draft-dodger and his pathetic sycophants for exposing treason and corruption against the US. And even his political allies are too weak to continue the fight. A tragedy.
Ironically, this "do nothing and wait for Trump to do something even worse" attitude is what the other GOP candidates tried in the 2016 primary! Instead they just looked weak. Dems refuse to learn.
