Trumpism is the end of the idea of America. Rejecting immigrants, abusing asylum seekers, and embracing tyrants.
Many Americans who Trump would say are "standing on their own two feet" have actually been standing on the shoulders of generations of immigrants—striving, often exploited.
I'm not even a proponent of generous social benefits, but bashing immigrants with them is just kissing up to Trump's xenophobic base instead of addressing immigration reform and the real entitlements crisis.
Unfortunately, the Democrats will fall into the trap and rush to promise free everything even for illegal immigrants, allowing Trump to frame the debate there instead of on broad principles and policy.
