One excellent aspect of this thread is that it explains why the view that the WA is a “trap” is no more than the paranoid style of Brexit politics.
“The whole U.K.” was, of course, a U.K. Government demand: not entirely welcomed by the EU, to put it mildly. But the “trap” misreading of the WA depends on ignoring that basic fact. If it had been a cunning trap we wouldn’t have had to persuade the EU to build it.
The misreading matters because it then invites reading the WA through the lens of paranoia. And few legal agreements, let alone treaties, can stand up to a paranoid reading (a belief that the other side will do anything to get you).
