If RTE is so great, as some in the BJP aver, why have thousands of schools converted to “minority status” to avoid the “benefits” of RTE?

RTE has communalized education and increasing the “minority” hold on it.

@vinay1011 No,
1. Scrap RTE. Remove all restrictions on schools in terms of infrastructure or pedagogy. Let a thousand flowers bloom.
2. Have standardized tests for math and language ONLY at grade 5 and 8. Passing at 8th grade level should be the ONLY compulsory education requirement.
@vinay1011 3. This means that someone can homeschool, a school can be run by one teacher under a tree, all it needs is for students to pass grade 8 language and math.

4. If govt is unable to run schools, scrap them. Give parents vouchers to use at any private school. Let schools flourish.
@vinay1011 This is the best way to ensure rights of poor. Every child gets a Rs. 5000 a month (say) voucher which can be used at any registered school. Schools that don't show passing standards at grade 5 and 8 will be de-registered.
Let schools compete for students.
@vinay1011 This is completely viable politically, empowers students and poor parents, and creates a buyers market for education. It will cost less than running govt schools which consistently fail to deliver education.
@vinay1011 It also allows many kind of vocational opportunities. Schools can be run on farming schedules, they can run for students who are apprentices for different trades. In fact, encourage and support apprenticeship rather than inane "child labor" laws.
@vinay1011 The problem is that these solutions can never emerge from the babu culture that runs the govt. Every loosening of govt controls reduced babu power (and side income). But ignorant visionless politicians rely on these bureaucrats for policy.
@vinay1011 Yes the govt schooling system today exists for the bureaucrats and the politicians to control jobs. Money-minting low-work employment. Schools do *not* work for the children. Govt then shifts its non-performance to private Hindu schools under RTE.
