I just want to say, apropos of nothing in particular: I follow hundreds of people on Twitter. Not one of them gets up and starts rage-tweeting like an angry drunk at closing time, first thing in the freaking morning. It’s just weird. I hate weird.
At the risk of belaboring the point, this thread @MattGertz suggests suggests the nitwits on the Fox & Friends show drive the daily political conversation because the President repeats what he sees on TV.
Rage-tweeting, and now race-tweeting. It will take a generation to scrub out the stain this person is leaving on the White House and throughout the government.

Thread. Melancholy images here, for me. That’s 150+ bushel/acre corn land — soil that basically will grow anything — being taken for housing, about 500 feet from where I live east of Madison, WI. 1/
You can’t call this a tragedy — people have to live somewhere, and the Madison area is the fastest growing part of the state. Moreover the housing here won’t be the super low-density kind the experts at groups like @Farmland are — with good cause — just death on.
Yet it’s hard to escape the feeling that we’ll need highly productive soils sometime in the future more urgently than we do now. Once those soils are lost to housing or commercial development, we won’t be able to get them back.

It’s not just a generational conflict. A House with power centralized in its leadership just doesn’t do as much; when younger Members are told in effect to wait their turn, waiting is exactly what they’re expected to do. But @b_judah is right to point out that....
....the experience of Millenials in the House doesn’t incline them to deference, either. They remember one policy or political disaster after another their current leaders either went along with or tried ineffectually to prevent.

Re-upping a thread about “normalizing” & what it really means in our politics. It means acceptance: of corruption; of depraved morals; of a Presidency compromised by the Russian government; of open racism in rhetoric and policy; and of casual lawlessness by people in power.
Acceptance doesn’t mean approval. But disapproval by itself has no value. Take yesterday’s hearing, where Russian involvement was called a grave threat to American democracy as the beneficiary of that involvement sits in the White House untroubled by any threat of sanction.
Words are not enough to prevent acceptance of the unacceptable. Action is required. @SpeakerPelosi and the House Democratic leadership, having already accepted so much from Trump & his malodorous associates, have made clear no action will have their support.

Twitter seems to be banning or suspending accounts belonging to critics of the Chinese government. It started yesterday May 31th. Here is one report - I noticed a sudden loss of followers yesterday, I checked, it was mainly China critics. Twitter❤️🇨🇳 Amazing! @mouse @1GigiSims
This is happening as an effort to silence #China critics ahead of the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, which is next Tuesday. Twitter is helping China do its dirty work to silence the legitimate opposition. Twitter has hit a new all time low! 👎👎👎
One other possibility that can't be discounted is that the #Chinese government is hacking into Twitter and is deleting the accounts of Chinese critics. I did hear reports in the past, that Chinese hackers were able to get into Twitter & do that.

So after a news cycle of seemingly never-ending Boris bashing by all of the major UK TV stations over a joke made at the expense of a religion, whose adherents we are constantly informed by the same TV stations are all peaceful and not suffering from mental health issues. 2/13
Or in the case of the suicide bombers “we may never know their true motivation” even when this is in fact not the case, fortunately no-one was killed this time, which makes a very refreshing change, but that appears to have been more down to luck than anything else. 3/13

I've been going to cons as a vendor or attendee for 20+ years. Cons have changed a lot, but the biggest change is NOT what most people always point out... that media has taken over the Con. That's true, but the big change is in the people who go, and why they are there. 2/18
Con attendees are not the day-in, day-out comic buyer. Con attendees are by and large more casual fans of the actual books, even though the cosplay may trick you into thinking they are "super fans". They are "super-fans", but of the idea of comics far more than the titles. 3/18
