Re-upping a thread about “normalizing” & what it really means in our politics. It means acceptance: of corruption; of depraved morals; of a Presidency compromised by the Russian government; of open racism in rhetoric and policy; and of casual lawlessness by people in power.
Acceptance doesn’t mean approval. But disapproval by itself has no value. Take yesterday’s hearing, where Russian involvement was called a grave threat to American democracy as the beneficiary of that involvement sits in the White House untroubled by any threat of sanction.
Words are not enough to prevent acceptance of the unacceptable. Action is required. @SpeakerPelosi and the House Democratic leadership, having already accepted so much from Trump & his malodorous associates, have made clear no action will have their support.
