Would you describe it as colonialism? Globalization? A great migration? Not sure we have the right framework yet
Organized influence in a global, open world is something we never had. European imperialism was organized but national. The American empire was global but “disorganized.” If you combine the two you may get closer to the “Sihanoukville world” of tomorrow
European hipsters used to come to Sihanoukville to see the past. Now they arrive - deceived by old travel guides - and immediately run away. The only reason to come here is to see the future
