Victory or Egypt was the warning. That we must be careful to learn lessons from Egypt’s failed revolution النصر أو مصر
But the warning should’ve been Victory or Sudan more specifically old Sudan. Sudan’s history has been destructively playing on loop for 60 yrs
#SudanUprising
The cycle begins with the Military making a pact with a political power base to rule Sudan. In 1958 General Abboud makes a pact between the Army & the tribal political sects of the Ansar & Al Khatmiya
In 1969 Colonel Nimeri makes a pact with leftist politicians
#sudanuprising
After falling out with leftists & an economic crisis. A vulnerable Nimeri makes a pact with Islamists under the leadership of Hassan Al Turabi (Attorney General) in 1983 in order to create a new power base. Sharia law is enacted for the first time.
#sudanuprising
After Nemeri is ousted Turabi identifies a new prodigy to re establish the Islamist military alliance. Brigadier Omer Al Bashir leads an Islamist coup in 1989 in partnership with Al Turabi’s Islamic front
#sudanuprising
Sudan has known 50 years of dictatorship in barely 60 years of independence & in all those years the military has been unable to rule without a civilian partner or sponsor whether they be a tribal political sect, leftists or Islamists
#sudanuprising
We should not be comforted by a partnership between the regime & the FFC we should fear this repackaged re loop of history. It is these Army/civilian partnerships that are at the bedrock of the Sudanese autocratic model.
#sudanuprising
So now the army will purge the Islamists & replace them with FFC secularists. While the street continues to chant for the fall of Kezan. Because in the collective memory of a population with an average age of 17. Islamists are the be all and end all of autocracy
#sudanuprising
Not realising that the real & only ideology of the military ruling establishment is survival & once the novelty of a secular dictatorship wanes and people get sick of the corruption that will surely continue, the lack of justice the diversion of the majority of

state funds to the regime security apparatus & after enough time has passed the Islamists will rear their ugly heads again as an answer to repression & a return to Islamic principles for justice & so the cycle will restart again.
#Sudanuprising
This is the reality that faces us if we do not understand our own history and stop this cultish backing of the FFC. They’ve betrayed the revolution & now part of the regime. Their leaders are carried in celebration on the shoulders of #janjaweed while people are being killed!!
So the question has never been Victory or Egypt it’s Victory or the Old Sudan and that has always been the question.
