SCOTUS declared $ is speech. Speech is protected by #1A. If you give a political donation, your right to speak is protected but your anonymity isn’t. Congress mandated public recording of this speech. If you don’t like your name/address/employer being public, tell Congress.
Public speech in the form of money is protected and it’s public. Your campaign donation doesn’t give you anonymity unless it’s dark money. If a reporter published donor lists of superPACS/dark $ groups, we’d all be praising them as journalistic heroes! 1/2
If congress mandated superPACS report donor info to FEC, would we all be up in arms of someone summarized that and tweeted it? Or would we worry abt donors giving to politicians? Public donations are public & donors should take responsibility of their own actions. 2/2
