Foreigners indulging in Hindutva-related political activities in India:

It has been noticed that several foreign nationals of Indian origin have been informally employed by the ruling BJP to disseminate propaganda and hate speech online. Some of these are OCI card holders (1/10)
Clause 15 of Indian Immigration Guidelines states:

“For foreign nationals granted any type of visa & OCI cardholders: There will be no restriction in visiting religious places and attending normal religious activities like attending religious discourses...(2/10)
“However, preaching religious ideologies, making speeches in religious places, distribution of audio or visual display/ pamphlets pertaining to religious ideologies, spreading conversion etc. will not be allowed.”

(3/10)
A large chunk of hate speech in the #KashmirWelcomesChange, #KashmirWithModi & other BJP campaigns has religious overtones & is specifically peddled & coordinated by a set of Indian-origin foreign nationals some of whom are OCI card holders. (4/10)
Some of these people have also been photographed in the company of Union Cabinet Ministers allegedly discussing & giving inputs on India’s policies. They’ve also been a part of numerous election campaign related work. (5/10)
Indian immigration laws & rules clearly state that foreign nationals & OCI card holders cannot indulge in political campaigns or demonstrations. Even for religious activities (other than pilgrimage), a special visa is required. (6/10)
The Modi govt. cannot allow a hate campaign against minorities online & turn a blind eye to the ones running these pages in violation of visa and OCI norms. (7/10)
An RTI in this regard along with a letter shall soon be sent to the Home Ministry. Failing any action in curtailing religious hate speech & militant Hindutva activities by such foreigners, judicial intervention shall be sought. (8/10)
These Indian-origin foreign nationals peddle politics hate speech & religious bigotry. They cannot be allowed to interfere with India’s secular framework and break our laws as foreigners. (9/10)
Every Indian-origin foreigner conducting such activities (political or religious) is violating Indian law. We must ensure that the Home Ministry act on this immediately without requiring judicial intervention. (10/10)
