Let me say, I don't think any state should be open carry. I think assault weapons should be banned. I think this country should have gun laws like Australia.

And I am so glad this dude was stopped, I just don't get why what he did was illegal if it's an open carry state.
When you make exceptions in the law on the basis that people appear threatening, you give police (or anyone) license to kill Black people with (or without) guns doing nothing but live. Or Black people actually saving lives or preventing mass shootings.

Police decided they would arrest Tyrone Allen for a series of bank robberies. Problem – he didn’t fit the suspect’s description. He has prominent facial tattoos. The suspect had none. Solution – the police digitally erased his tattoos from his mugshot. oregonlive.com/crime/2019/08/…
This also had the effect of substantially lightening his complexion. They then put the altered mugshot in a photo array. The tellers picked out Mr. Allen. He was arrested and charged.

A court is now deciding whether what the police did is constitutional.
PS This is also what we call a photo array as opposed to a line up. It's problematic for so many reasons, not least of which is they are using actual mug shots so the witnesses are choosing from a group of people who have have previously been arrested and look like "criminals."

.@DineshDSouza is a fool, & his critics are right about climate change, but this idea that winter in the southern hemisphere is a mirror of the north is wrong. Not just in Australia, but across the entire southern hemisphere. I wish a climate change scientist would weigh in.
@DineshDSouza Other than Antarctica and New Zealand, there's not a lot of snow falling in the southern hemisphere in the winter. The fact that there is in Australia would seem to be very strong evidence of climate change.
@DineshDSouza This is how rare snow is in Australia. I grew up in Sydney, but traveled around a lot, certainly to the parts of Australia where it is now snowing (which are in my home state). Until I moved to the US as an adult, I had never once seen snow.

But I see people #onhere saying it snows in Sydney. Nope. It never snows in Sydney. That kangaroos are adapted to live in snow. Nope. They can for a very short time, but not really.
@DineshDSouza Australia is 97% desert. It does not snow in Australia except at very high elevations. We do not have seasons the way the US does. So @DineshDSouza's comments about climate change are all sorts of wrong, but it's factually inaccurate to say that's winter in Australia. It's not.

Missouri - which became a permitless carry state in 2017 - does not require a permit to openly or conceal carry a firearm for those 19 years or older. Open carry is legal in 45 states. Roughly 30 states allow the open carrying of handguns and long guns in public without a permit.
So just to recap: It’s perfectly legal in many states to walk around in public and Walmart with loaded “tactical weapons” while wearing body armor and carrying 100+ rounds of ammo - as long as you don’t seem menacing.

If you want to kill people, the most effective way to do this in the modern era (since gun laws and annoying people like the Police will make things awkward) is to persuade people to stop (or never start) a statin.

Over the long term, 1 in 10 will be killed by that choice.
You can even write books about it and make money.
