It’s a big shame Danyl is no longer blogging - and that his blog is gone. I can’t seem to find him on Twitter anymore either. Perhaps his departure too is part of the legacy of @whaleoil which appears to also be gone. Albeit perhaps not yet completely... /2
While searching for Danyl I found this whaleoil.net.nz/tag/danyl-mcla…

The new .net.nz version seems to be a partially functioning attempt to keep some of the slandering going. At least inside Google.
I’d guess whaleoil.net.nz is an attempt to resurrect some of the original SEO strength of the original .co.nz. But in the process they will also resurrect the harm.

It indeed appears that the entire Whaleoil.co.nz website archive is indeed still online - and searchable on Google. Here you can find 560 items mentioning @PublicAddress >> google.com/search?rlz=1C1… /5
@publicaddress So far it looks like 55,100 pages have been indexed by Google. google.com/search?q=site%…

Including the SEO optimised archive pages - e.g. this one for @KimDotcom whaleoil.net.nz/tag/kim-dotcom/
@publicaddress @KimDotcom The whaleoil.net.nz pages are full of live adverts - and fully functional from what I can see. The only part of the site that is not working seems to be the internal search engine.
@publicaddress @KimDotcom The resurrected version of @whaleoil is the work of @cre8d the web development company of Rachel and Regan that built the most recent version of the Whaleoil site.
In summary the demise of @whaleoil is I think greatly exaggerated. In taking control of whaleoil.co.nz Matthew Bloomfield has taken control of a ghost which will soon vanish.
The SEO optimization of whaleoil.net.nz appears to be mature, and unless Mathew Bloomfield can be bothered continuing to finance a pursuit of Cameron Slater, I expect all the harmful stories slanderous stories Slater published will remain in the permanent record.
On the old whaleoil.co.nz, now owned by Bloomfield, Margie Thomson (the author of a book about Bloomfield’s battle) has posted a postscript chapter to her book which concludes saying she and Bloomfield expect “all the nasty stories” to be pulled down.
I don’t know this is right. And on the basis of these two earlier passages from Margie Thomson about contacts with the police, I don’t think they intend to be of any help in cleaning this mess up either.
While the liquidator is probably the owner of the content in the complete, intact, and fully search engine optimized republished @whaleoil archive, Bloomfield would need to purchase that as well if he wants to remove the harm of the content.
I’m unsurprised the police are reluctant to pursue Slater any further, and not just because he is sick, though that must be a factor. The Nicky Hager raid & related matters demonstrated the police relationship with Slater was never neutral, though it remains unclear what it was.
Although personally I’d love the lies and nastiness about me to be gone. Perhaps it’s a good thing a semi-permanent record will remain in place reminding NZ of the #dirtypolitics era. An era not down to Slater alone, a large number of “respectable” Kiwis were also involved.
P.S. The 4th, 3rd and 2nd to last posts on the old @whaleoil blog (July 31) perhaps provide a guide to what can be expected from the Whaleoil replacement site, climate denial, gun worship and immigrant/refugee bashing. All no doubt associated with ginger National Party interests.
