This article made me think of Lincoya, the Creek orphan taken by Andrew Jackson after his army massacred Lincoya's people, and who was in--but certainly never *of*--Jackson's family. His story has since been used by those who would deny Jackson's murderous hatred of Native ppls
In much the same way, this photo is intended to show the Trumps as caring humans "helping" this child. It's abundantly clear this is no more than a ghoulish photo op for a president* who bears almost as much blame for orphaning this child as the gunman.
The president* did not fire the gun, but he loaded and aimed it, and then lumbered into the bloody aftermath to smile and pose with the trophies from his hunt.
