X : I understand why you made mapping open but why promote competitors?
Me : There are no competitors. There are just people trying to build a business with mapping. I call them allies.
X : But what if they're more successful than you?
Me : That'll mean the market is growing.

X : Don't you worry that some other company might own this market?
Me : See the open nature of mapping. Part of being open is to encourage others into the field. Remember the goal is to encourage the development of a better form of mapping.

X : Why do you want that? Wouldn't it make your form of mapping irrelevant?
Me : Mapping is about opening a door into a wide field. A better form of mapping is a requirement for progress i.e evolution. Why wouldn't I want that?

X : Err ... try money?
Me : Rent extraction? I'm 50. I've lived with rapid change and adaptation all my life. I don't fear it, I thrive in it. I'm not like my youth as a 20 year old searching for meaning and some simplistic order. I learned how to embrace the chaos.

... so, I don't fear mapping progressing beyond my form of maps. I relish the idea. Can I ask a personal question?
X : What?
Me : You're early 30s?
X : What has that got to do with anything. I run a successful business.
Me : You'll learn.

.. between my early to late 20s, I used to think I was over the hill, my skillset had become old and I was searching for that secret to sucess beyond just embracing life, living it large and spending money ... youth eh? ...

... it took me years to realise that I was learnig and gaining experienxce of how to adapt and to cope with chaos, how much larger life was than I could ever comprehend. Where do you think my joke graph came from? It's my experience of .. me.

The moment you start to truly make progress is that moment when you start the decline, you start to really doubt what you "know", you think your skills are dated and you start to appreciate how little you did ever really know. You start the most important journey ... adaptation.
