I was curious about it. It was obviously some kind of pneumatic tube, but I had to admit I was not 100% conversant in how pneumatic tubes work, either, and I had some doubts about how it would be applicable to fish.
Short answers are: they are regularly misted with water along the way, the atmospheric pressure that propels them along is roughly equal to the water they'd be swimming through.
And also, people picking up fish and putting them into the entry tube manually is more of a proof of concept thing, they're engineered for the wild with "volitional entry".
