Which isn't even true!

Again, the public charge requirement has existed a long time. A lot of poor immigrants have come here during that time. We came here with almost nothing. We got a little help from private donors at first, and then my parents each got 3 min wage jobs.
Their story is hardly unique. They were actually very reluctant to take ANY public assistance because they were warned it could hurt their chances of becoming citizens.

America didn't give us welfare, it gave us opportunity. That's what American immigration is about.
I really wish these journalists would talk to some actual immigrants. Or at least people who know the immigration system.
