Your pastor is a rapist. Your pastor is a con man doing fake miracles and laundering money for thieves. Your fav politician is a billionaire with no known legal source of income outside government. Your boss has been caught stealing on camera. But sure the scammer brings us shame
Nigerians are acting like the man caught by the FBI is a criminal with distinction when in fact he is the image of the Nigerian hustle. There is no stigma for sudden wealth. Or successful crime. Not in society. Not in politics. Not in churches and mosques. Not in families.
All your people pretending to be artistes and entertainment moguls flying private. All your sudden socialites buying the most expensive items on insta with no jobs. The one who built a business by stealing people's content but oh now has a mansion so don't knock hard work.
Obi is Nigeria. And Nigeria is Obi. Nigeria is the perfect breeding ground for this. There is no social consequence for crime. You can kill someone today and throw a party the next day and everyone will show up. Obi is not an exception. He does not bring us shame. He is us.
The only thing that brings shame is Nigeria is poverty. Not fraud. Not rape. Not theft. Not murder. Not corruption. Clergy men reinforce this. Professionals reinforce this. Even so called activists. Writers. Lawyers. Nigeria is a post shame dystopia.
I'll never forget the week my first book came out. Some of your MCMs and WCWs on here made fun of me. If he thinks he is so smart why is he trekking upandan in Abuja. To raucous laughter. Because yes your achievements are shit if you live in Abuja and can't buy a car.
What hurts us? How this will affect us individually. Our visas. Our image. Not the fact of the crime. Otherwise we would not keep celebrating known murderers and criminals. Obi is one man in a large network of people operating in plain sight.
Anyway. Let me go and trek to where I can write. God safe us
