For 3 years, rival political factions have descended on downtown Portland. Too often, they’ve beaten and brawled with one another.

A couple of liaison officers are strolling through the left-wing gathering. Otherwise there’s a limited police presence in the waterfront park.
The right-wing group's event isn't scheduled to start until 11a, but they are already gathering.
Sgt. Kevin Allen said police have seized items from protestors that could be used as weapons.

“It’s not illegal to have a sign, but something that can be used as a weapon is. And in this case, it was the piece of lumber,” Allen said.

Also happening at the #PortlandProtest. Counter-demonstrators wearing all sorts of costumes.
Multiple officers from Salem are downtown. A few PPB officers are briefing them.
Police are starting to block Naito under the Morrison Bridge. Line extends through the park to the river.

Police are on the loudspeaker saying that those in the street are subject to arrest for disorderly conduct.
A large number of protesters are marching south through Waterfront Park, approaching the Hawthorne Bridge.
Police have arrested one person who reportedly stayed in the street after being told to move.
Patriot Prayer's Joey Gibson is attending the protests, crossing the Hawthorne Bridge with Proud Boys and others.

Protestors on the Hawthorne Bridge are being stopped from going further by police.
The right-wing protesters at the east end of the Hawthorne Bridge are beginning to dissipate. One small bus has left, and more protesters have left on foot.
Proud Boys and other right-wing protesters are leaving in buses.
Crowd near SW 1st & Taylor is following apparent right wing supporters, chanting 'Go home, Nazis.'
Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brandon White: “The Proud Boys contacted us or contacted the units on the ground saying that they wanted to leave and so we facilitated for them to leave the area."
"It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t orchestrated. We had a request that they would like to leave the area and so we facilitated.”
There's a continued police presence outside the police bureau, where a fairly sizable crowd has gathered.
