Really, the govt could have just been honest and called the religious discrimination bill “Folau’s Law”. It says that employers may not impose rues limiting employees from making “statements of belief”… say, like a social media post demeaning gay people to millions of followers
The caveat is that employers are allowed to limit “statements of belief” if they can prove that it is to avoid financial hardship… not sure how they would effectively demonstrate that. There are dedicated sections to sport + clubs in case the motivation wasn’t clear enough
Jumping forward for a sec, the bill is clear that “statements of belief” cannot legally constitute discrimination. There are some provisos but since it’s designed to protect statements like e.g. “all gays are going to hell” unsure what the limits will look like in practice
