@LongstrethMary @HawleyMO I guess Josh doesn’t know that the House passed HR 986 the Protecting Americans With Pre-Existing Conditions Act in May. He doesn’t know because the Republican Senate Majority Leader won’t let the Senate take it up.

This is problematic on multiple levels. The proposal would create a new agency, the Health Advanced Research Project Agency (HARPA) in HHS. It would be modeled after a similar agency at the Pentagon (DARPA). /1 washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/…
In conjunction with the Susan Wright Foundation, the project would cost $40-60M and use “volunteer” data to identify neurobehavioral signs someone is headed to a violent explosive act. Speaking of signs, how about using the sign that /2
a person is involved in the white nationalist movement because they seem to dominate the profile of recent mass shooters. Even FBI Director Wray has identified that demographic as a domestic terrorist threat. /3

Am I cynical, naive or just stupid? But I see the role of a judge as one who rules over court proceedings and interprets the law. The law should be the law. Once it is written, if written well, there should be little political juice to be squeezed from it, IMO. So,
a judge should be a judge should be a judge. Or they used to be (naive or stupid?). But the Senate is cranking out these judicial confirmations like the world will end tomorrow and the only thing to stop the world from ending is more Trump-nominated judges.
Which, coincidentally or not is the exact opposite way they paced confirmations when there was a Democrat in the White House.

@MissouriGOP @stltoday @tonymess I am a suburban mom in Ann Wagner’s district. I have called multiple times over the past two years. I have never received return calls. The person who answers the phone never has “spoken to the Congresswoman about that” no matter what my question is. /1
@MissouriGOP @stltoday @tonymess My biggest issue is that everyday from September to May, I drop my son off at school never knowing if I will be picking him up alive at school or dead at the morgue because of the proliferation of guns in our country. /2
@MissouriGOP @stltoday @tonymess My son’s school (he is 13 y/o) has taught him how to respond in the event of a shooting. If the shooter is in the room, he has been taught to attack the shooter and throw things at shooter but to aim for the head because it will distract him. /3

One of President Trump’s 1st priorities was an attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act—including its protections for those with pre-existing conditions. This effort failed because he couldn’t come up with a new plan, and even Republicans wouldn’t repeal the healthcare law.
So they tried again. This time, they argued in federal court that the entire ACA should be overturned. And keep in mind they STILL haven’t proposed an alternative plan for what would happen if the lawsuit is successful.
