Lie 1: Unlike other countries, America is plagued by mass shootings. This is a false premise that assumes that because gun ownership is higher in the USA than other countries, the incidence of mass shootings is too. #ksleg #2A

The truth: America ranks 67th of 97 countries in mass shootings per capita--a long way behind countries where the possession of firearms is uncommon. #ksleg #2A #ussenate

Lie 2: Background checks stop mass shootings. False. It wouldn’t have stopped the shooters in El Paso and Dayton, who both passed background checks. #ksleg #2A

The truth: Criminals routinely circumvent background check systems. Meanwhile, a universal background check as proposed in H.R. 8 would make it difficult for law-abiding citizens to lend or sell firearms to family and friends. #KSSen #2A

Lie 3: Gun-free zones work. Democrats apparently believe that a plastic sign on a door saying no guns are allowed will stop potential shooters. It’s a fantasy. #2A #ksleg #ussenate

The truth: 98 percent of mass shootings since 1950 occurred in places that ban guns. The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. #ksleg #2A

Lie 4: AR-style rifles are preferred by mass shooters. These modern rifles cause gun control activists to hyperventilate. #2A #ksleg

The truth: The overwhelming majority of mass shooters didn’t use AR-style rifles. Out of 317 mass shootings between 1999 and 2013, offenders used AR-style rifles 9.78 percent of the time. #ksleg #2A #ussenate

Lie 5: So-called “smart guns” are the answer. Idiotic. Biden said at a June campaign event that the USA has the capability to make sure no one can pull a trigger unless their DNA and fingerprint are on it. #2A #ussenate

The truth: Not so, Joe. There is no such thing as a gun that can perform a DNA match. Fingerprint match guns are in development, but they’ve hit snags, meaning there are no “smart guns” on the market. #senate #2A

The closest thing to a smart gun on the market is a pistol that requires a matching bracelet in the vicinity in order to fire. That tech is easily defeated with about $15 worth of magnets, while the gun itself costs about $1,800. #ShallNotBeInfringed #ksleg

That’s about 4X what an equivalent pistol costs. If the fingerprint tech ever reaches the market, it’s likely to be even more expensive. The average gun buyer may not be able to afford one. #2A #ksSen

Of course, that’s exactly what the Left wants. If the #2A forbids them from disarming all Americans, then they’d love to see firearms and ammunition become too expensive for most people to buy. #ksleg #senate
