It's pretty amazing that Americans ever accepted this notion of "choice" as legitimate in the realm of health insurance. It implies there are some health issues you don't need coverage for. "yeah, I'll take your spleen package but not your kidney one. Liver, yes. Gallbladder, no"
We would rightly scoff at the notion of "choice" when it comes to the fire department. It's like "huh? Just put the fucking thing out!". But with health insurance we've accepted different packages? It's completely absurd!
That's not to say you shouldn't be able to choose your doctor, you should! But the restrictions on doctor & hospitals come bc of private insurance declaring certain ones "out of network". Imagine your vaca house catches fire & the fire dept says "you don't have coverage there"
