We've confirmed that there's been a postponement, but are told the extension to the current contract was signed on August 28, nearly 2 weeks before the Air Force launched its internal review and before the House's inquiry gained steam following our reporting on overnight stays.
A spokesman for the Defense Logistics Agency, which signed the deal w/Prestwick in 2016, said they "anticipate awarding a long-term contract" to Prestwick "by end November 2019."
According to the agency, postponing the signing of a new refueling contract with Prestwick didn't have to do with the relevant investigations--and they plan to go ahead, by the end of November, with extending the contract through 2024.
The reason for the postponement, they said, is because "most locations require site inspections and extensive negotiations...both the DLA Energy Technical and Contracting teams have a limited number of team members who are simultaneously working on multiple expansive programs."
