We confirmed the camera position of our footage through a Google MyMaps diagram of the area, marking the typographical elements seen in a wide-angle shot in our package, such as electricity poles, roads and buildings.

Comparing new & old satellite images we found that most of the village of Jalbul,in E Afrin,had been destroyed. The majority of the homes & properties in Jalbul have been demolished to clear a path for a large bisecting perimeter wall spanning around 400 m

Another section of wall runs about 500 m N from Jalbul,along the road to the village of Maryamayn. This is the longest part of wall in E Afrin. Contrary to some reports, the wall does not run as one entire consistent structure spanning N to S.

Along this stretch of Jalbul wall, there is a pre-existing observation tower. Using the timeline feature of @googleearth we can see that this tower has stood since 2016, pre-dating Turkey’s Operation Olive Branch.

At the village of Maryamayn, a swathe of land has been bulldozed by Turkey. Comparing our Planet Labs image with a Google Earth satellite image from June 2018 we see a notable change in the landscape.

Further south in eastern Afrin, at the village Kimar, we identified the smaller wall structure under construction, spanning roughly 150 meters. From our Planet Labs satellite image we can also identify building materials close to the wall.
