In The Atlantic’s September cover story, Vann R. Newkirk II wrote about the black farmers who have had 12 million acres taken from them in the past century, particularly in the Mississippi Delta. on.theatln.tc/hhg0vGG
His story focused on one family, the Scotts of LeFlore County, and how they lost their cropland to lenders and the USDA before eventually managing to reclaim it. But 1 million other black farmers have lost their land, and we want to talk to them.
