Twitter, beg unnu a minute nuh please?
I had this idea I wanted to launch for this QWI IPO. Between travelling, getting sick and a few other issues I just couldn’t manage to get it all done in time. I think it’s worth doing though, so I’m going to try anyway.

Over the last few yrs I’ve witnessed the huge growth in interest in stocks & investing from the public. This has been driven by the gains being made by companies on @jastockex, paired with strong marketing for some IPOs.
( $WIG.ja had enough ads to rival Chug Ittttttt 🤣).

@jastockex The gains for the people who have participated (even the non-experts) in the local stock market have been really great. I suspect that more millionaires have been made in Jamaica over the last few years than at any other point in our history...

@jastockex Of course, more people making money from something, means even more people are going to get drawn to that thing. The problem though is that investing requires a little learning first to be done right (aka safely & profitably).

@jastockex I started the @EveryMickle GRWR Workshop series to help regular, non-finance, "mi HATE Maths" people to get started with Investing and get over the intimidation...

@jastockex @everymickle The GRWR Workshop Series usually covers the entirety of Investing in stocks locally. That works and the attendees love it, but based on the things I’ve been seeing & hearing from people, I think there is room for a more targeted event, something that everyone can quickly get into

@jastockex @everymickle I’ve noticed the strong interest in IPOs and the rise in, “ipo-surfers”; people who buy an IPO simply hoping for a “pop”. As much as I and others have warned against this, it still keeps happening heavily, and just as the warnings have said, some people have been burnt, badly...

@jastockex @everymickle The worst thing about the people who have been burnt, is that it was totally avoidable with just small, light effort. Even a light reading (and understanding) of a prospectus and a discussion with an expert could have saved some of those people from losing money.

@jastockex @everymickle Now I understand people who do this, everyone wants money after all and this seems easy. I’m also realistic; I don’t expect most people to become Finance experts....

@jastockex @everymickle Real talk? If you “hate Maths” and you’re older than 25, you will likely never change that. You also likely have little interest in going into a long, boring college-esque course, you know how limited your time is…

The GRWR Workshop: IPO Edition...

@jastockex @everymickle This version of GRWR, is streaming only & specific to IPO’s. In this I intend to cover 2 things;
IPO Basics, and then… go deeper into the specific prospectus of whatever company is "ipo-ing"....

I figure a lot of people may not have the time/schedule/access to do anything greater, but at least this can help people understand IPOs and maybe prevent even 1 person from losing money in a “bad” IPO.

The idea is that an attendee should leave the session with a better understanding of:
1.IPOs in General
What They Are
Why They Are Done
How Best to Participate in one
Things to Look out for
2.Current IPO Specifics
Offer Terms
Company Overview
Prospectus Run-Through

Of course, as with the regular GRWR events, Q+A is a huge factor. Attendees tell me that being able to ask the questions they have no matter how small or large (or anonymously, in case they dont wanna feel "dumb") and get a sensible answer is 1 of the best parts of GRWR....

So for this GRWR each segment has sections for questions to be askeda and answered, things to be explained and at the end, I do a full Q+A session.

In the final Q+A you can ask me pretty much anything…as long as it’s legal👮🏾‍♀️. So I still can’t tell you to buy/sell a stock, etc. I can’t give investment advice, but everything else I know about that IPO & the company, I’ll share.

I figure that should help you get up to speed, know what to ask your licensed financial advisor about & also to make your own buy/avoid decision... It will certainly help you to decide on an IPO on more than "me feel it ago rise enuh" 🤷🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

Now with the $QWI.ja's IPO opening Mon I know time is short, but I still think this is worth getting off the ground. If you can’t stream this one, don’t worry. This is an on-going series & i'll be doing one every time there's an IPO. Lets get more people making more money…safely

This streaming session costs $65, but since its so close I’m knocking that down to $55…and after giving the whole thing some thought, I've made a second decision...

I think that this is a great chance to channel some of the usual IPO hype into something good. So, starting with this session and going forward; 50% of the proceeds from all IPO Edition GRWR Workshops will be donated to charity.

For this 1st workshop 50% of proceeds will be paid over to Heart to Heart International (@Heart_to_Heart) to aid with Hurricane Dorian Relief in Bahamas.
All donation payment receipts from this, and all subsequent events, will be publicly shared on everymickle.com.
