I’m going to resist my strong urge to eye roll, and put this in the category of increasing insecurity/fear that people with considerable privilege are feeling these days.

I get it. Allow me to reframe it for PG and others that agree with the sentiment below....
People have many kinds of ways to communicate with each other and signal their intent, desires, needs, beliefs, opinions, etc.

Usually we are referring to this as a language.

There exists many kinds of language. We can think of actions and choices as a kind of language.
And much like the words we speak, language evolves over time. By and large, we don’t speak English the same way we did in the 18th century... though it’s not so unrecognizable that you can’t read an 18th century text.

Morality works and evolves in a similar way.
As time goes on and we learn and evolve as people, our moral compass does, as well.

We are all guided by a moral language, and most of us have a shared understanding what it means. But the meaning and effect of it is constantly changing.
And thanks to technology, that language now changes more quickly than ever.
It’s also increasingly hard to understand how it changes outside of one’s circle or “bubble”, because so many of our social interactions today happen on platforms that are built to surface things we already understand and like.
People with considerable privilege are afforded a lifestyle that either indirectly or intentionally allows them to be disengaged from the evolution of morality.

They are usually insulated from the root causes that influence the changing “language”.
If they don’t make a concerted effort to break out of it, it can be very confusing and scary to see the moral language encroach on everything they thought they knew and was “right” about the world.
I am playing the worlds smallest violin for them, but I get why they feel like victims.

They don’t know any better, but they should. And we have to continue to push them to do better.
I think what Paul is implying is only a problem for whomever doesn’t believe that people need to grow and change toward what the majority of society draws as its moral line.
