2/ Sorry to properly educated American friends such as @BrianBuchbinder . But these folks that plunge into evolutionary psychology without going through the initiation rites of passage of reading the fucking classics irritate me to the triple bourbon level.
@BrianBuchbinder 3/ Here's how multi-disciplinarity works. Sorry, Americans, but you need to swallow your entitlements: you go through the whole intellectual initiation process in discipline A. You get the official sanction. You publish.
@BrianBuchbinder 4/ That includes reading the classics and keeping updated on what the good scholars are publishing. Then you go to discipline B. You have a Ph.D., so folks won't require you much but... if you want to be good, you will: go back, follow the bread crumbs and...
@BrianBuchbinder 5/ ... read the fucking classics, understand the "intellectual habitus", SUBMIT TO IT. Learn their language, talk like them. Otherwise, you will always be seen as a well-funded intellectual joke.
