2/ have happened about six weeks ago. So very recently. This isn’t a case of something that happened in early 2017 where some Obama holdovers might have been involved and are only now talking. Formers shouldn’t know anything about something so recent. So two possibilities.
3/ One, which I think is more likely, is that people in government are pushing this information out into the public realm using formers with high security clearances as go betweens. A second possibility which seems less likely but still possible is that a lot of ...
4/ people are being cleared out post Dan Coats. So possibly these really are people who just got canned or forced out and they were in when it first started. Conceivable. But that seems like a stretch. Where this becomes more than a matter of journalistic interest is this:
5/ if its option one that means people on the inside must think the substance of what happened is very serious to take such a high risk step.
