Interesting thread. But...

The green movement has been *clearly* ideological from the outset, even where it intersected with the seemingly rational economic perspective, advocated by RC here.

There has been much resistance to understanding environmentalism as ideological.

What people who took environmental problems at face value failed to realise was the extent to which politics preceded the seemingly scientifically-defined problem of climate change.
@owldom The attempt to build supranational environmental bureaucracies long precedes climate change alarmism. And the failures of that project were highly visible before they were reformulated as climate change alarmism.
@owldom It is naive, at best, to argue for the face-value understanding of climate change science. There is a great deal of history and politics to consider before we take 'The Science' for granted, or to understand the problem.
