Republicans know what Trump did was ghastly and wrong and impeachable. The fact that they’re not clamoring for his removal is an indictment of them.

But Democrats need to understand the white hot spotlight of impeachment changes things. Make them vote.
There’s a point where this breaks. Truthfully, Republicans are terrified of Trump. Some would be glad to be rid of him. Not to mention, he’s not a Republican. He’s not one of them. If they see they can offload him and avoid the death of the party they could flip.
And if they don’t, good riddance. They can live with that vote. They can go into the world wearing it like a weight. But pressure would be intense and never ending.

Growing up, I was taught in church and popular culture to expect an apocalyptic showdown with satanically evil globalist forces determined to undermine the country and plunge it into civil war.

My family and the people around me were too and they hear Trump loud and clear.
The New World Order conspiracy theory has merged with white identity Christianity, itself an invention of a post-civil rights split in the church. The white identity Christianity is entirely focused on this oncoming war and have treated it as complete fact for generations.
It is a cult. Pure and simple. There's other way to say it. And like many cults, they are determined to get the war they've been expecting. These things have a tendency to happen if a group wants them bad enough, or at least overflowing in tragedy.

It probably shouldn’t surprise anyone that Trump and his administration are chasing a conspiracy theory that’s born from American mythology and the new Russian philosophy meant to conquer it.

Important to remember that Trump, the NRA, and the Republican Party are all cornered and desperate and the alternate reality that gave them power in the first place is completely based in paranoid, racial fear. What they do now could cost so many lives. 1/
That alternate reality has its roots in the emergence of globalism in the 1990’s. With that system, evangelical leaders began talking about the New World Order, a global conspiracy that is quietly a rebranding of the Elders of Zion conspiracy. 2/
Following incidents at Ruby Ridge and Waco, the NRA fundraised and gained power by stoking white paranoia that Bill Clinton and the government were part of the New World Order and that they were planning on taking all their weapons. 3/

2. He's absolutely right that the #Democrats need to focus on policy issues, but in ADDITION TO not INSTEAD OF Trump's actions and investigations. And, yes, in the 2016 election we failed to do that. Consistently unsettled by his behavior, we were stuck against the ropes.
3. It's not easy. As a voice of political activism, it's overwhelming. Keeping actionable focus on policy while still giving perspective and analysis on the inevitable 'shock of the day' feels like herding cats, but risking the normalization of the Trump era is unconscionable.
