OMB relayed Trump’s order to hold Ukraine’s military aid to State Dept & Pentagon in mid-July. Officials were instructed to tell lawmakers delays were part of “interagency process” & to give no additional info. Pattern continued for nearly 2 months, until the night of Sept. 11.

Aha. NYT confirms WaPo, adding this whiff of Putin: Trump “singled out Ukraine as a place he considered corrupt.” Ukraine military aid freeze was different from holds on other programs. Even after other aid was restored, money for Ukraine remained blocked.

Pretty clear Trump has swallowed whole Putin's disdain of #Ukraine, whose democracy so threatened Putin's kleptocracy, he stole its land, vilified its govt & killed its people.

Not the first time Trump's echoed views wreaking of Russian influence. Think Montenegro, Afghanistan.

The language & structure of the July 25 call shows Trump didn't just solicit Zelensky's election help. They made an agreement & had a classic meeting of the minds. Trump pressed for a favor. Z (had to) say Yes. Trump said, Good I appreciate it. Giuliani & Barr would carry it out.
You could argue Trump solicited Zelensky to enter an election conspiracy. That's damning even w/o the context of a vulnerable country at war with Russia and Trump holding up desperately needed military aid. Adding that context, the pressure, the dirt, and it's a cesspool of abuse
Language & structure of the call show how Trump pressed Zelensky:
1) 4x US is good to Ukraine—"a lot," "very very" 2x each
2) US does MORE than Europe
3) Relations were NOT "reciprocal"
4) Whatever you can do, it's VERY IMPORTANT that you do it
5) I'm sure you'll figure it out

I warned the #Ukraine call transcript would unleash a torrent of gaslighting. It has.

Trump just claimed Zelensky said "NO PRESSURE." That's false. Z finessed it. But Trump has now put those words in Z's mouth. And pro-Trump media & propagandists will repeat the lie as truth.🙃
🙄Trump's now saying *Democrats* threatened & pressured #Ukraine. He has one playbook: Gaslighting, flipping narrative, whataboutism, lies, conspiracy theories. That's IT. He's deflated b/c his propaganda fails when ppl understand it. He's just a pathetic emperor w/ no clothes.🤡
Trump sounds like he's already singing his swan song. He's so deflated. His linguistic patterns have betrayed him.

Like this "Sir" story, which @ddale8 has identified as introducing a lie. This one claims foreign leaders came up to him at UN saying what he's gone thru is so bad.
