(1) I'll be honest, I had reservations about #impeachment since the start. It's not popular to say on Twitter, but I worry about an electoral backlash when the #Senate likely acquits. But #Trump's #UkraineExtortion is just too much; it's my breaking point. nytimes.com/2019/09/23/us/…
(2) Now we know that Trump personally ordered Mick Mulvaney to freeze $391 million in military aid to #Ukraine right before he pressured Ukrainian President Zelensky dig up dirt on the Bidens. This plot has all the criminal subtlety of a community theater production of Goodfellas
(4) Let's be clear, this is exactly what #Mueller was asked to investigate: a foreign government agreeing with a candidate to alter the outcome of a Presidential election. Only it's worse, far worse than 2016, because the President himself is using government funds in the deal!
(5) I'm sure there are GOP lawyers who will raise the bar higher, explaining how extorting a foreign leader to obstruct their own justice system by illegally blocking $400 million is somehow not enough. But it's increasingly clear that for many it never will be enough to #impeach
(6) We could find a literal smoking gun, a recently-fired pistol in Trump's hand and his victim dead on the Oval Office floor, and we'd have the exact same discussion. It might be a hyperbolic hypothetical, but would the Ukraine story have sounded any more plausible pre-Trump?
