WHEN WILL THIS END?

1 in every 5 of the world’s out-of-school children is in Nigeria.

The truth: lack of proper funding is killing our education system.

Did you even know?

The capital budget for 43 federal universities is just N6.11bn.

But @NGRSenate is to buy N5.5bn SUVs.
Overall, only 7% of the budget is allocated to the education sector in 2019, culminating in a total of N634.56bn.

Despite the allocation to the education sector being relatively low, only 9% of the total allocation N58.69bn will be spent on capital expenditure.

THREAD: Let us take a look FG finances in 2018. Are things getting better?

N2.09tn, the highest ever, was spent on debt service in 2018. This is getting scary.

FG Recurrent Expenditure (including Statutory Transfers) hit N5.85tn while N3.86tn was total revenues earned by FG.
In 2018. FG earned a total revenue of N3.86tn.

Oil now accounts for 51% of public revenues. Independent revenue from FG agencies grew from N295bn to N395bn. Excellent work. CIT also had an impressive 21% growth, as FG share reached N660bn.
FG Revenue Breakdown:

Oil Revenue: N1.96tn
Non-Oil Revenue: N1.12tn
FG Independent Revenues: N395bn
Other Financing Sources: N385bn
Special Accounts: N306bn
Exchange Rate Differential: N79bn

We wonder why other financing sources are not explained.

9.94% of the total gas produced in 2018 was flared away.

To end gas flaring, the @NGRSenate passed a Bill to prohibit gas flaring in Nigeria after the 3rd reading in April 2019 since 2nd reading in 2017.

However, unlike 2015, this time the main challenger is PDP's @atiku, who's also from the north.

Analysts say the election is difficult to call.
The income map reveals a clear regional divide in how wealthy Nigerians are, with the north being much poorer than the south of the country.

The figures represent the mean average income and are not a reflection on how equally that money is distributed across the population.
