Good early morning from UNHQ for the start of general debate at #UNGA.

First four up today:

Brazil’s Bolsonaro
USA’s Trump
Egypt’s Sisi
Turkey’s Erdoğan

The starting lineup is a story in itself. Covering it live, for @CourthouseNews.

You may be wondering, isn’t there supposed to be Epstein-related news today?

Indeed, accuser Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit against Alan Dershowitz heads to a hearing today at 10am.

My colleague @jruss_jruss will have you covered while I’m inside the UN General Assembly hall today.
@jruss_jruss #UNGA called to order, and Secretary-General Guterres takes the podium.

@jruss_jruss By tradition, Brazil delivers the speech first at general debate, which means Jair Bolsonaro will take the marble dais.

Starting now.
@jruss_jruss Bolsonaro lashes out at the "sensationalist" reporting "we have suffered due in large part to the international media" on the fires in the Brazilian Amazon, railing more at the "media lies and hate in a disrespectful manner and a colonialist spirit."

He thanks Trump right after.
@jruss_jruss "Met with shock by world leaders at his first visit and derision in the second, President Donald Trump is expected to see support from his type of ruler Tuesday during his third U.N. General Assembly address."

@jruss_jruss Trump's speech is about to begin. webtv.un.org
@jruss_jruss Invoking the "seven decades of history" that swept through the UNGA hall, Trump begins: "We have seen the foundation of nations. We have seen the ringleaders of revolution. We have beheld saints who inspired us with hope."
@jruss_jruss Just Trump hammers the same national-sovereignty themes he hit the last two years.

"The future does not belong to globalists. The future belongs to patriots."
Trump: “The World Trade Organization needs drastic change. The second largest country in the world should not” be able to declare itself a developing economy.

“Globalism exerted a religious pull over past leaders” leading them to ignore their own “national interest.”
The WTO remarks were a reference to China.

After a few passing, non-committal remarks to "monitoring the situation in Hong Kong," Trump says: "We are all counting on President Xi as a great leader."
As you've seen, no prolific live tweets today. Trump's speech is over and I'm working on a developing story.

Sisi, who Trump reportedly called his "favorite dictator" at the G-7 summit (per WSJ), is up now.
Erdogan's up now, talking climate action, a topic unmentioned by Trump.

Later, he reiterates Turkey's slogan: "The world is greater than five," referring to the outsized power of the permanent five members of the U.N. Security Council.
